Our goal this season is simple: every player should improve, feel valued, and understand that hard work leads to progress.
To support that goal, we are using a clear and transparent system for training, evaluation, and communication. This structure is designed to help players grow, ensure fairness across the team, and create a positive experience for everyone.
Growth Over Comparison
Baseball development is not about where a player starts — it is about how much they improve. At the beginning and end of the season, we will use objective measurements (a “combine”) to track progress in areas such as throwing, hitting, running, coordination, and strength.
These measurements are not used to rank players against each other. They are used to help each player see their own progress over time and to reinforce the idea that effort and consistency matter.
Fairness and Transparency
We believe fairness comes from clarity and consistency. Decisions about training focus and development opportunities are based on consistent evaluation methods, effort, improvement, and readiness. This structure exists to ensure decisions are understandable, earned, and applied evenly across the team.
Team Structure
Players will be grouped into one of two primary team areas:
- Infield
- Outfield
These groupings help us organize practices and focus on the fundamental skills required for each area of the field. Being grouped as an infielder or outfielder does not limit a player’s opportunities. All players will continue to develop overall baseball skills.
Additional Specialized Training
Some players will also receive additional specialized training in:
- Pitcher
- Catcher
These are not rankings or permanent roles. They are skill tracks that require extra instruction and safety awareness. Multiple players will be trained in each specialty, and participation may change as players develop.
Early-Season Input and Mini Combine
At the start of the season, families will complete a short form describing prior experience and position interests. We will also run a mini combine to better understand current skill levels. Using this information, we will make preliminary assignments to guide focused development. These assignments are tools for learning — not labels. The combine gives us a clear, objective snapshot of each player’s current performance level. We measure core skills like velocity, exit speed, running time, throwing efficiency, and strength in a controlled, repeatable environment. This allows us to establish a baseline, track improvement over time, and build individualized development plans based on real data — not opinions. At the conclusion of the combine, all completed paper forms should be turned in to the head coach for processing and entry into the system.

Shared Learning and Safety
As the season progresses, players will receive short handouts with links to learning materials covering basic skills, position responsibilities, and safety fundamentals. Reviewing these materials helps ensure we are all aligned and able to use practice time effectively.
End-of-Season Perspective
At the end of the season, our goal is for every player to feel that they have improved and to leave with greater confidence in their ability to grow through effort. Baseball is a sport some players may pursue seriously later in life, but many will only play for a few years. Because of that, we want players to gain as much value as possible from their time on the field.
Beyond baseball skills, this program emphasizes lessons that extend far beyond the game: hard work, accountability, patience, resilience, and confidence built through effort. If players show up, stay engaged, and put in honest work, they will make progress — and they will leave the season knowing that progress is something they can achieve in anything they choose to pursue.
